Bowsprit installation (spring – summer 2023)

We have always been feeling two reasons for having a bowsprit: a place for an additional headsail and, more importantly, a possibility to install a solid bow anchor on a solid role with a room for the anchor winch. With the frailty of my Mother, an additional reason appeared in my mind, a place for a ladder with a positive slope (not overhung like our old bow ladder for gymnasts),

The challenge was to attach the bowsprit to match the lines of the hull. Of course, this is only visible from the outside. To try it on, we hung the bowsprit on the frame of the winter cover, before removing the frame in the spring, before splashing the boat.

Finally, in the summer, when the boat was at the quay, we managed to secure the bowsprit.

The final challenge was assembling the anchor roller.
